You are what you eat ...

It’s a well worn maxim, but we believe there’s more than a spot of truth in it.

‘Modern’ farming and food production practises has led us to a point where most consumers eat meat that is produced in an unnatural way.

However, we are proudly ‘old fashioned’ in our approach to both animal husbandry and farming.

Slow grown, naturally grass-fed beef

Our cattle are reared on the chalky downland and meadows of the beautiful Test Valley in Hampshire. Consequently, they forage and munch on the multitude of naturally growing meadow grasses that imbue the meat with its unique depth of flavour.

Our ‘traditional’ low intensity farming approach means our cattle are not laced with growth-promoting hormones, or force fed grains to fatten them up. As a result, they spend their lives roaming around pastures, eating what nature designed them to. Grass.

From (family) farm to fork

We are a small local beef producer who take great care of our livestock. We’re not a massive commercial operation, judging everything by the bottom line. However, our approach is more nuanced, and not fixated on the financials.

We passionately believe that it’s important to know where the food you eat comes from, and how it was produced.

Above all, we are committed to producing the highest possible quality beef in the most natural and sustainable way possible. In short – producing meat that’s better for us, and the planet.

Is grass-fed beef healthier?

Beef animals that are finished in a feed lot are pushed to gain weight quickly, often supersized in a 8 to 12 week period using processed food by-products. However, our stock takes up to 12 months longer to raise and is finished naturally.

Therefore, there are no un-natural carbs or sugars used in the fattening of our cattle, as it is a natural process over time. In other words, our beef is a totally natural product without any artificial additives.

As a result, there is a higher content of vitamins and minerals in our grass reared and finished beef.
